With county council elections taking place across Gloucestershire on Thursday 2nd May, Stroud District Council is urging residents to make sure that they are ready to cast their vote. Already over 92,000 registered voters have received their polling cards, and the council is keen to ensure that anyone entitled to vote does not miss out. A district council election for the vacant seat of Cam East will also take place on the same day.
The deadline for registering to vote is 5pm on 17 April 2013. Residents can request a registration form by calling the Stroud District Council elections office, during office hours, on 01453 754886 or by printing off a registration form at www.stroud.gov.uk/elections.
The deadline to register for, or to amend, a postal vote, is 5pm on 17 April 2013 Shortly after this date, on 19 April 2013, postal voting papers will be sent out to everyone who has requested them.
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote, ie voting on someone else's behalf, is a week later, 5pm on 24 April 2013.
