Gloucestershire have announced record profits for the last financial year. A lease agreement with Linden Homes as part of the County Ground redevelopment accounts for the majority of the £2.9 million surplus. Nonetheless, the County were able to shrug off last summer's wet weather and the tough financial climate make a trading profit of £108,000 – their best result since 2007. Outgoing chairman Rex Body said: "This has been an exceptional year for the club, with the start of our long awaited development and the financial impact this has had. "We are reporting a record surplus of £2.9m for the year. Stripping out the surplus on the lease to Linden we made an operating surplus of £108,000, our best performance since 2007 despite the effect of the dreadful weather. "There is still more to do, however. We are committed to substantial continued development spend, as well as increased playing squad expenditure, so we will continue to exercise financial prudence. "Nevertheless, these results augur well for the future. "My thanks go to everyone who has contributed to the finances of the club over the past year." In May 2012 Gloucestershire were granted clearance for the redevelopment of Nevil Road and work is ongoing, with a new enlarged pavilion due to open at the end of July. New seating planned for this winter will allow the club to maintain international status, including a promised England versus India One-Day International in 2014. They were affected by the poor weather last summer, with gate income and membership reduced by £57,000 and £30,000 respectively compared to the previous year. A one-off sum of £200,000 was received from the ECB by way of compensation, while the club earned £20,000 from the Friends Life t20 quarter-final at Sussex and gym income grew by a further £44,000. Gloucestershire's AGM will be held on Thursday, April 25.
