Firefighters were called to rescue a pigeon which had impaled itself on a TV aerial.
The crew went to Arle Gardens in Cheltenham following a request from the RSPCA at around noon today.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said a crew of five from the Cheltenham West Community Fire Station went to the bird's rescue.
He said: "The crew were at the scene within five minutes and managed to extricate the very poorly bird before handing it over to the RSPCA inspector.
"The incident was over within 30 minutes and the crew carried on with their regular duties."
