Maundy Thursday service sees 200 clergy gather at Gloucester Cathedral

CLERGY from across the county gathered at Gloucester Cathedral today for a traditional Maundy Thursday service.

Nearly 200 of them processed through the building wearing the robes in which they were ordained in and renewed their vows.

Readers, local ministry teams, churchwardens, retired clergy, diocesan staff and officials were also invited.

The special  Easter service was led by the Bishop of Gloucester, the Right Reverend Michael Perham.

Clergy renew their vows on Maundy Thursday as it is when Christians remember Jesus telling his disciples to love one another just as he loved them, at the Last Supper.
