Cheltenham Town midfielder Darren Carter has backed Birmingham City youngster Jack Deaman to shine during his spell with the League Two Robins.
Deaman arrived on a youth loan until the end of the season on Thursday, providing defensive cover for Steve Elliott and Michael Hector.
Carter knows all about what it takes to succeed a club like Birmingham, having spent four seasons with the club he supported as a boy and scoring the penalty that took them into the Premier League 11 years ago.
After missing the whole of last season with a serious groin injury, Carter returned to Birmingham for pre-season training last summer, where he saw first hand Deaman's qualities.
He said: "Jack is a solid defender who is technically very good and comfortable at centre-back or full-back.
"He has a great attitude too and is willing to learn and desperate to get a taste of first team experience.
"Birmingham have always seen him as hard working and know that his attitude is always right for training and games. You always know you'll get 100 per cent from him."
Deaman was an unused substitute when Birmingham visited Cheltenham for a pre-season friendly in July, while Carter went on in the second half for Lee Clark's team.
Harry Hooman's goal earned Mark Yates' men a 1-0 victory that day.
Deaman trained with Cheltenham for the first time on Thursday morning in preparation for the Good Friday trip to second placed Port Vale.
