One of Gloucestershire's biggest defence companies is making 70 people redundant.
Tewkesbury-based L-3 TRL Technology announced today that it was being forced to reduce its 400 strong workforce because of changing market conditions-including defence cuts.
The company produces a range of defence products from satellite communications to electronic devices to help protect troops from roadside bombs.
In a statement today the American-owned company said: "Global defence markets are going through significant change; spending is reducing, competition increasing and future requirements are unclear following decisions by many Western governments to leave Afghanistan.
"Therefore, L-3 TRL has taken this decision to restructure its business operations in Tewkesbury, concentrating on new technologies and geographic markets to ensure the long-term success of the business. The company is now in a consultation process with those employees affected by this decision."
