MOTORISTS in Cheltenham will have to answer to Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) about parking arrangements from April 1.
Cheltenham Borough Council will be handing back responsibility for on-street car parking enforcement from the beginning of next month.
But it will continue, however, to manage car parking arrangements in its own car parks.
As part of the transition, Apcoa UK Ltd, a privately-contracted company, will manage on-street parking enforcement and virtual parking permits.
However, Cheltenham Borough Council will continue to manage car parking arrangements in its own car parks.
This means from April 1, on-street Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) enquiries and payments will be managed by Apcoa rather than Cheltenham Borough Council.
Councillor Andrew McKinlay, cabinet member for built environment, said: "We are happy to continue providing enforcement arrangements for the council's town centre car parks and will do all we can to ensure that users of our car parks receive a quality service.
"We are also working with GCC to help ensure that the transition of the on-street parking enforcement service to APCOA will be as smooth as possible for residents and visitors.
"From April 1, our website will have all the details people need in order to contact APCOA and/or GCC as regards on-street parking enforcement and parking permit provision."
If a PCN is issued on or after April 1, residents should contact APCOA on 0845 3199631 who will deal with any on street PCN enquiries or payments.
If a resident receives a PCN up to and including March 31, they should contact Cheltenham Borough Council.
Anyone in any doubt about who to contact to pay or appeal, they will find details printed on their notice document.
