SEVEN judicial reviews cost Shire Hall bosses just shy of £400,000 in legal costs.
Gloucestershire County Council forked out a whopping £375,887 of taxpayer's money on lawyer fees and court costs.
And with additional staffing costs not included in that bill, the price tag is likely to have been even higher.
Councillor Ceri Jones (LD, Cleeve) unearthed the figures after asking a number of questions on the issue at a council meeting on March 20.
In a written response to the questioning, Councillor Mark Hawthorne (C, Moreland), leader of the council, said: "There were seven judicial reviews, some of which the council successfully defended and recovered costs from the claimant.
"We look at all of them to help improve decision making in the future."
