HORSE is on the menu at an Italian supermarket in Cheltenham.
Steve Hampton, 28, owner of Mutina Italian Supermarket in London Road, has started selling horse lasagne.
The Cheltenham-born chef started putting signs up after Gold Cup Day to tell people that his lasagnes only contained pork and beef.
But his customers started asking him if he would make some with horsemeat, and he has received about 10 orders since he started making them earlier in the week.
Sourcing the meat from Kezie Food in Scotland, Steve was inspired from the five years he lived in Modena, Italy, where he met his wife.
He said: "It started out as a laugh at first, but it has since taken off. People have actually ordered it and it does taste quite good."
Each portion costs about £4.
