Gloucester potter Rob Milkins is out of the Championship League snooker tournament in Essex, being defeated by Marco Fu in the semi-final. Milkins almost forfeited his place in the semi-final of group seven after he wrongly thought he had not qualified from the group stages. He was heading back to Gloucester before he was called on his phone and told he was in the semi-final, arriving back in at the Crondon Park Golf Club venue with half an hour to spare. Fu won the clash with The Milkman 3-0 to reach today's final stages. He is joined by the winners of the other six groups: John Higgins, Martin Gould, Ding Junhui, Barry Hawkins, Mark Allen and Ali Carter. Milkins had beaten Stephen Maguire, Tom Ford and Andrew Higginson to put himself in to the semi-finals. The Championship League Snooker event is a venture between Matchroom Sport and Perform where 25 of the game's finest players compete with all matches broadcast on a host of betting websites. Each group features seven players with each man playing the other six once in a round-robin basis. Every match is the best of five and the winner gains one point with the loser getting zero.
