CAMPAIGNERS gathered at the gates of Javelin Park to urge councillors to turn down plans for a £500million incinerator.
Gloucestershire County Council's planning committee visited the site ahead of a meeting at Gloucester Rugby Club tomorrow.
It will decide whether planning permission should be given to the waste burner.
An estimated 200 protestors flew a balloon on a 70m tether, the height of the proposed chimney, for the councillors' visit. County planning officers have recommended approval of the scheme.
Randwick protester Jonathan Edmunds said: "I have young children and I don't want them burdened."
A spokesman for waste firm Ubaser Balfour Beatty, said: "We welcome the planning officer's recommendation and look forward to the decision of the planning committee."
