A SCALED-down version of Stroud College's controversial £4.8 million sports academy at Stratford Court is now being tentatively suggested.
Residents at Stratford Court and in nearby Gannicox and Stratford Road were up in arms when the Stroud District Council first made clear it was prepared to negotiate with the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College about building a 3G floodlit pitch, pavilion, classrooms and more at Stratford Court.
But now next week's council executive is being recommended to carry on with those negotiations but to consider splitting a "scaled-down version" of the college's investment between Stratford Court and nearby Stratford Park.
Protestor John Fisher said residents would welcome the chance to work with the college and the council on all the options.
"It was the 3G and the floodlights that would cause the greatest nuisance," he added.
