HE is used to Grand Designs, but Kevin McCloud was happy to help with a rather smaller project in Stroud yesterday.
He helped plant what looked like sticks in pots, but what will soon be blossoming into fully fledged crab apple, elder and hazel trees.
Residents of the new Applewood development at the former Cashes Green hospital site, were delighted when the TV's Grand Design star kicked off their tree planting ceremony.
He and scores of residents planted up 100 pots, which had individual messages signed on them.
Kevin was a key player in the development of the 78 homes.
His brand director Sahra Gott said: "The people loved it. It went even better than we expected. "Kevin really enjoyed himself because it was very relaxed and he was just there in his boots."
