Royal seal of approval for Olympian Laura Bechtolsheimer's big day

OLYMPIC medalist Laura Bechtolsheimer was given a royal send-off as she married polo player Mark Tomlinson in Switzerland.

The couple, who tied the knot at a snowy ceremony in the upmarket ski resort of Arosa, were joined by family and friends, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

Prince Harry is a close friend of Mark, who plays for the England team.

And the young Royals happily mingled as they chatted to fellow guests during their short stay at the winter sport holiday destination.

Laura, from Ampney St Peter, near Cirencester, became engaged to Mark shortly after the Games last summer, which saw the riding star win gold and silver as part of Britain's equestrian success.

They had been introduced by Laura's brother, Goetz, nearly three years earlier.

Following the engagement, Laura, who won a gold in the team event and bronze in the individual, said her chestnut gelding Alf was still her number one love.

But she admitted that the gap was diminishing.

As the newly-married couple walked past the Royal group, an evidently delighted Kate – whose baby bump was clearly visible under her tan coloured coat – threw a handful of confetti into the air.
