A dog trapped in a drainpipe underneath a motorway barked for help as firefighters came to the rescue.
A distraught dog owner had been walking near to the M50 at Bromsberrow when their dog became trapped at 5.30pm on Wednesday.
Five firefighters from Newent plucked the terrier from a manhole cover in the middle lane of the motorway, which was closed lane-by-lane while the operation was carried out.
The dog was uninjured and was returned to its owner after the one hour ordeal.
