Brimscombe and Thrupp 6 Malmesbury Victoria 0
This was entertainment at its best, right from the first goal that appeared in the second minute to the last that was served up in the 90th minute it was exciting stuff.
Top versus bottom saw Brimscombe leaders of Hellenic League Division One West battle it out with bottom of the league strugglers Malmesbury who served up football way above their position.
They lacked experience and technical ability that the home side had in abundance as early as the second minute Brimscombe had the ball in the net Mike Beckingham put captain Mishey Green through to beat ex-Lilywhites keeper Joe Snell now keeping for the Vics.
Jack Ellis should have equalised only seconds later but showed lack of composure as he bore down on Thomas and drove well wide of the target.
After further chances were frittered away by the home side the second goal came in the 22nd minute when Beckingham thanks to good work from Mike Green made it 2-0.
Snell was a busy keeper but showed his ability with a fine save from Mishey Green's effort from a Woodfield cross Brimscombe went further in front Green slamming in a loose ball in the 37th minute.
With half-time approaching Ben Snook made it 4-0. The resumption saw the game open up and more pressure on the visitors and another piece of skill from Ben Snook that put Ben Deakin through and he crossed for Mishey Green to secure a hat-trick.
Jack Ellis replied for the Vics with a great volley but Thomas saved well desperate to keep a clean sheet.
The sixth and final goal was initiated by Ben Deakin, the jet-heeled youngster breaking clear from his own half leaving several defenders in his wake and slipping the ball sideways to Mike Beckingham as they appeared in the Malmesbury box and Brimscombe's top scorer rammed in the sixth and final goal.
