Supporter Laurie Cleevely's views on Cheltenham Town's 1-1 home draw with Aldershot Town:
AN ANNOYING feeling of two points dropped loomed around Whaddon Road as a busy referee blew up for the final time.
I was disappointed by the first half performance and to see a scrappy Aldershot goal give them the advantage early on and it seems to be the case with Cheltenham lately.
A promising performance on Tuesday couldn't be carried home with us to Whaddon Road and the lack of consistency is certainly frustrating at the moment.
The first half was to no enjoyment of the Cheltenham faithful as Aldershot frustrated our fans and players alike. An obvious time wasting plan was evident and numerous stoppages for 'injuries' were 'ridiculous' in Yatesy's words.
However, the second half showed glimmers of the team we can and should be, with high tempo pacy football putting pressure on a sturdy shots back four.
It was clear Aldershot just wanted to protect what they had and sit on the goal when they had it and then, eventually, the point.
I wasn't impressed by the number of fouls they committed and it's hard to string moves together when players are constantly being brought down.
But, we found the goal with a good finish from Paul Benson and pleasing to see him double his tally in a Robins shirt.
His movement is key and he was able to find the space and convert with the looping header. It's vital he finds his Swindon goalscoring boots as that could be very important come May.
I thought Luke McCullough made an impressive debut and certainly looks a strong, young prospect and will provide good cover for Steve Elliott if unfortunately the injury is on the longer side.
I approved of Yates' decision to bring Kaid Mohamed on. It gave us greater width and enabled Marlon Pack more room to manoeuvre and do his work. We could have worked the ball wider to use Byron Harrison in the middle but he was working on scraps which Shaun Harrad does better!
A feeling of two points dropped, but a promising second half. Onto Accrington, come on you Robins!
