Paul Benson is set to complete a loan move to Cheltenham Town until the end of the season, with a permanent signing also set to be announced by the club this afternoon.
Swindon Town target man Benson was at Friday night's 0-0 draw with Morecambe at the Abbey Business Stadium.
The 33-year-old has been given other offers, with Bristol Rovers and Southend United known to be interested, but the his on-off move to Cheltenham is finally close to being completed.
Yates brought in Luke McCullough on loan from Manchester United and extended Darren Carter's contract on Friday.
He is now set to add a combative midfield player on a two-and-a-half year deal.
