Old Patesians RFC: Pats' home game with Malvern is called off tomorrow

OLD Patesians' National Three South West match against Malvern at Everest Road has been called off tomorrow because of adverse weather conditions. There was still a foot of snow on the Leckhampton pitch on Thursday night at training and it has failed to be cleared in time for the kick-off. The latest postponement comes hard on the heels of last week's cancellation against Maidenhead because of the recent snowfall in the area. Pats will rue the timing of it as they were desperate to get back to winning ways having failed to taste success since December 1's 36-17 win over Avonmouth Old Boys. Their last action came in the 44-18 defeat at home to leaders London Irish Wild Geese two weeks' ago, which followed the 29-11 loss at second placed Exmouth. A tip to bottom side Maidenhead and then a home game against Malvern, who occupy the last remaining relegation slot, would have been perfect opportunities to get back on track. Next Saturday they will now host seventh placed Chippenham in Cheltenham, who won 31-17 the last time the two teams met earlier in the season. The Maidenhead game has been rearranged for February 23 with the Malvern match likely to be played on the next available slot, which is March 16. That would mean Pats have a game every week until the end of the season now which would make for a hectic and demanding schedule.
