FAMILIES cheerfully took matters into their own hands when ice and snow marooned them in their homes at Paganhill.
Resident Denise Godfrey said householders armed themselves with spades and shovels and cleared it off College Road, outside their homes in Stroud.
"At least it made it a lot easier. You can't do it on your own. But if people get together you can get so much more done," Mrs Godfrey said.
Altogether, seven adults and two children lent a hand with the snow clearance.
"I was quite hard work because it was impacted.
"But the community pulled together," she said.
