MISSING cat Dexter disappeared for 10 days before being found waiting patiently for a veterinary surgery to open.

Irene Jackson, of Coral Close, Tuffley, was devastated when her nine-month-old cat disappeared on New Year's Day and failed to return.

But 10 days later she took a call from Kingsway Veterinary Clinic to say he'd been found waiting at their door.

Mrs Jackson said: "We were so upset when he disappeared out the cat flap and never came back. He is part of the family so we put up posters all around the area in the hope of finding him again. When I got the call to say he'd been found I couldn't believe it."

Dexter had taken the two-mile journey from the Tuffley house to the Kingsway clinic, where he waited in front of glass doors until someone let him in.

Nurse Emily McLean said: "It was the first morning we had seen him here and it looked as though he was waiting for us to open up. We didn't think he was a stray because he was in a good condition. It was wonderful to be able to reunite them."
