Mangotsfield United 3
Bishop's Cleeve 0
A nightmare first quarter of an hour ensured that Bishop's Cleeve's trip to Mangotsfield United ended with defeat for Alex Sykes' Southern League strugglers.
The game was over as a contest after less than 15 minutes as the ring-rusty Villagers conceded three goals.
The hosts made the perfect start and opened the scoring with less than two minutes on the clock as Kyle Tooze skipped past an attempted tackle and crossed for former Gloucester City striker Ben Hunt to score.
Four minutes later the lead was doubled as Tooze put Hunt's strike partner Marcus Duharty clear and he ran through to rifle past James Nortei.
With the Mangos running riot, the third goal came on 19 minutes with two of Sykes' former Gloucester City team-mates combining to great effect.
A corner was only half-cleared and left-back Tom Parrinello drove a low cross in for Lee Marshall to sweep the ball past Nortei and into the net.
The stunned Villagers finally worked their way into the game and Saul Williams had their best chance to pull a goal back seven minutes before the break.
Racing on to a long ball over the top, the on-loan Forest Green winger cleared Mangos keeper Kevin Sawyer but also the crossbar with his lofted shot.
Tooze set up Matt Thorne for an immediate reply at the other end, but like Williams he too failed to find the target.
Hunt brought a superb save out of Nortei in the opening exchanges of the second half, the Ghanaian goalkeeper leaping to his left to deny the one-time Bristol Rovers striker a second goal.
Marshall then hit the up-right with a firm header and Duharty fired wide of Nortei's goal, despite having an unmarked Hunt screaming for a pass.
Nortei scrambled to clear from the on-rushing Duharty in a thunderous challenge as the Villagers did their best to halt the tide of claret and blue pressure.
Sawyer had just one save of note to make in the second half as Williams cut in from the left, but his mis-hit shot was easily gathered by the former Gloucester City and Cirencester Town keeper.
