Over the past two months, nightclub company Fever Bars has been on a mission to raise funds to support the Royal National Institute of Blind People, (RNIB) helping blind and partially sighted people in the UK. SInce launching the campaign in late October, the company has had management and door staff encouraging its loyal customers to give spare change for a cause that Cheltenham-based company owner, Mark Shorting, passionately supports.
Mark comments: 'My wife Jane and I ran the London Marathon last year in support of RNIB and through the kind generosity of our staff and customers, managed to raise over £15,000. We are running London 2013 and even at this early stage, the campaign is eclipsing last year's success. We have already beaten last year's total and are well on our way to our 2013 target of £20,000.'
Manager of Fever Cheltenham, Elizabeth Jaggs, added: 'To be involved with such a worthwhile cause is really satisfying. There are so many things we take for granted and sight is one of them. RNIB does wonderful work and I particularly like some of the schemes they run for families with blind children to help them participate in the sort of normal family activities that we all enjoy every day. We are over the moon with the support local people have shown - particularly those who have donated significant amounts when entering the venue - and we would like to sincerely thank all our fantastically generous customers, however much they have been able to afford to give'.
