NUNEATON TOWN 1 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 1
DISJOINTED Forest Green had to settle for a point to maintain their unbeaten start to 2013 in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Reprieved by Sam Russell's penalty save from James Armson in the first half, Rovers looked like making it three straight away wins when Matty Taylor bagged his 11th goal of the season.
But Delroy Gordon's strike from a disputed free-kick earned the strugglers a share of the spoils.
Rovers looked destined to fall behind in the 18th minute when James Norwood was adjudged to have shoved Adam Walker in the area.
Armson struck the resulting penalty firmly enough to Russell's right, but the former Darlington stopper had done his homework and pushed the ball away via the outside of the post.
In-form Norwood saw a low shot strike the post before the deadlock was broken in the 57th minute, Taylor getting on the end of Klukowski's whipped free-kick to nod past an unsighted McNamara.
McNamara saved at the feet of Aarran Racine to keep the deficit to one goal, and it proved crucial on 82 minutes when Gordon met Adam Walker's free-kick with a header which was pushed onto the bar by Russell – only for the rebound to be gobbled up by the Boro defender.
Russell had to produce another point-blank save to keep out Andrew Brown, Chris Stokes clearing the follow-up off the line.
