CADETS were found to be ship-shape and Bristol fashion at their annual inspection.
Inspecting Officer Commander Ron Hale scrutinised TS Raleigh, the Fairford Unit of the Navy Training Corps.
Piped aboard by one of the cadets, after the normal Colours Ceremony, he inspected cadets and staff to ensure the unit was being run efficiently and effectively in accordance with the aims of the corps.
The junior cadets were taught first aid and seniors practiced map reading skills during the scrutiny.
During the year the unit has been involved in events and activities.
One highlight was a trip on HMS Ocean while the ship was being used as part of the Olympic security operation.
Cadets have also gained qualifications in seamanship, cooking and proficiencies at using the bosun's call and camping.
Cadet Christina Trinder spent four weeks on board a Challenger yacht with the Tall Ships Youth Trust gaining her offshore sailing qualification.
Commander Hale presented also awards and promotions to cadets. Ordinary Cadet Phillipa Trinder was presented with the Cadet of the Year trophy whilst Nathan Jones was awarded the Junior Cadet of the Year trophy.
