HYDE 0 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 1

JAMES Norwood and Forest Green maintained their red-hot 2013 form to make it successive Blue Square Bet Premier wins.

Norwood opened the scoring 20 seconds after half-time, his 11th goal of the season and enough to settle the game in his side's favour.

Rovers were counting their blessings in the third minute when David Poole, playing on the left of a front three, crashed a shot against the crossbar with Sam Russell beaten.

The half-time break came at a good time for Forest Green, and Hyde were caught horribly cold at the start of the second period to fall 1-0 behind.

Matty Taylor was the orchestrator, putting Norwood into space in the right channel, and the latter's sky-high confidence was obvious as he wriggled between defenders and arrowed his shot emphatically into the corner of David Carnell's net.

Sam Russell had to get down smartly at the other end to deny Matt Cassidy before Norwood missed a golden chance to double his tally, latching onto Yan Klukowski's pass and seeing his effort blocked by the legs of Carnell.

Reprieved Hyde kept plugging away, and Adam Griffin's 25-yard drive had to be tipped over by Russell at the death, but Rovers duly bagged a deserved three points.
