Drink drivers beware – 69 arrests for the crime were made by county police officers over the festive period.
That's the number of people hauled in between December 1 and January 1 by Gloucestershire Police during their annual drink drive campaign.
Of them, 58 were men and 11 were women.
In 2011's campaign, 1,636 tests were carried out and 67 arrests were made, which is a four per cent arrest rate.
Insp Jason Keates, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "We are pleased we were able to take these people off the roads before anyone was hurt but are saddened that there were 69 people prepared to risk their lives and the lives of others through driving while under the influence of alcohol.
"Those arrested will be starting 2013 by dealing with the consequences of their actions.
"They will have either lost, or will soon lose, their driving licences and they may lose their jobs. I wonder if they now think it was worthwhile."
