New resurfacing for Stroud High Street

A PEDESTRIANISED section of Stroud High Street will be closed on two Sundays during its resurfacing.
The length of road at the end of Kendrick Street will be shut to all traffic on January 20 and February 10 to enable  Gloucestershire Highways, who are doing the work, to get machinery in when the town centre is quiet.
Highways had liaised with both the Stroud District and Stroud Town councils after complaints about the appearance when it was first resurfaced.
Now a mixture of York stone paving, enhanced buff coloured surfacing and conservation kerbing would be used said local highways manager Dan Tiffney.
The small number of vehicles permitted to use the pedestrianised area where the work will take place will be managed to minimise disruption.
