Prizemoney at Cheltenham Racecourse will hit a record £6.12 million in 2013, it was announced today.
It includes the first £1 million Gold Cup Day in a move which is described as "great news for Cheltenham" by racecourse boss Ian Renton.
Total prize-money for 2013 at Cheltenham will be a record £6.12m, a near 12 per cent increase from 2012, meaning that each race at the course will be worth an average of £57,000.
Almost every race at the Festival is increasing in value, with the major Championship events all breaking new ground in prize money terms.
Renton said: "This is great news for us and for all those who support jump racing at Cheltenham."
