First time home buyers might be priced out next year

FIRST time home buyers in Cheltenham are worried an increase in house prices next year will price them out of a house.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is forecasting that house prices in the UK will increase by two per cent over the course of next year.
They also expect the cost of rent to go up by four per cent.
Simon Rubinsohn, RICS chief economist, said: "These tentative signs of recovery in the sales market should not blind us to the very real problems that still exist.
"Many first-time buyers will continue to find it difficult to secure a sufficiently large loan to take an initial step on the housing market.
"The government needs to ensure that the conditions are in place that will enable the stock of new housing whether for purchase or rent, to rise more rapidly."
