RESIDENTS have hit their cash target for a new playground.
Residents in Devereaux Crescent and Devereaux Road in Ebley, Stroud set a £42,000 target for a playground for their three to 13-year-olds.
And now they've hit it, building work should start in February.
Devereaux was built in the 1940s with greens among its 160 houses but no formal playground.
A survey of all the householders and tenants conducted by the new residents' association earlier this year then found 90% of the 64% of people who responded put a children's playground as their top priority.
Biffa weighed in with a hefty £33,000, Cainscross parish council offered £1,000, the Stroud Tenants and Residents Forum gave £5,000, the Mid-counties Co-operative donated £2,000, and £1,000 came from an anonymous donor.
