Two men are set to stand trial over alleged firearm offence in the Forest of Dean

Two men accused of having an imitation firearm with intent to case fear of violence in Coleford last month will stand trial on June 8.

Sean Oaten, 30, of Gelli Road, Tredegar, Gwent, and David Davies, 33, of Sylvan Close, Coleford, are alleged to have had the weapon in Sylvan Close on Jan 4th this year.

They are also accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

The two men, who have been in custody since their arrest last month, appeared via video link from Hewell Prison, Redditch, for a preliminary hearing on Friday at which Judge Jamie Tabor QC set a timetmable for the progress of the case.

He was told both men intend to plead not guilty and a jury trial will be required.

The judge remanded the pair in custody till 8th May when a plea and case management hearing will be held ahead of trial a month later.
