People with mobility problems are being reminded that Gloucester has lots to offer when it comes to doing Christmas shopping.

The City Council's Shopmobility Team is keen to help – and say that the City is a great location for anyone wanting to 'tick off' last minute items on their festive shopping list.

The Shopmobility Service has a variety of powered and manual wheelchairs  and scooters suitable for anyone who has a mobility problem.

And with its fully pedestrianised city centre Gloucester is easy to get around.

Councillor Jennie Dallimore, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, commented: " Shopmobility is a fantastic service with a great team of people. Having a disability shouldn't be a barrier for people being able to get out and about.

" Christmas is a time of giving and we all want to be able to buy our own presents for friends and the ones we love. I just want to remind everyone that Shopmobility is there and keen to help. If people haven't used the service before we will show them how the scooters work and give them some training."

The service is located in Hampden Way and is open from 9 – 5 Monday to Saturday and can be contact on tel: 01452 302871  or email: shopmobility@gloucester.gov.uk

|The rental is  £3.00 per day or people can become members for a one-off fee of £24.00 per year.
