The Grimsby Town fan put in a headlock by stewards at Forest Green Rovers is considering legal action after the Nailsworth club's investigation did not conclude who was at fault.
Bryan Winship was angry at the findings of the investigation by Forest Green Rovers in to the circumstances that led to him being ejected from the club's New Lawn stadium last Saturday.
In a statement FGR said stewards told the club that Mr Winship had been abusive when asked to deflate his ball.
But Mr Winship said he will be taking legal advice.
He said: "I will be taking this further. They are calling me a liar and portraying me as a typical Grimsby lout causing trouble. All it was was a bit of fun.
"I have no qualms about the club. It's their stewards that were out of order in my opinion."
As Stroud Life reported yesterday, it confirmed it is carrying out a review into the stewards' practices.
Grimsby Telegraph photographer Duncan Young captured Mr Winship being held in a headlock.
He said: "By contrast, the Grimsby Town stewards are amazing. They turn out to support the Mariners and want to watch the team.
"They way the Forest Green stewards reacted is no way to treat a travelling fan.
"For six of them to react the way they did was out of order."
He added: "I am so grateful to the Town fans for looking after my daughter and for the support they have sent to me. There have been a lot of messages.
"I did not want to speak to anyone on the bus on the way back. I am still in shock. That is more because they made me feel I was in the wrong. But I had not done anything.
"All I want is for someone from the club or their police chief to say I had done nothing wrong and that will be the end of it. I just want it resolved and get it cleared up that I did not start it."
He confirmed he will take his inflatable ball tomorrow to the home fixture with Bristol Rovers.
A spokesman for Forest Green Rovers said: "The investigation reviewed the stewards' post-match report, had input from police, heard from fans, viewed a number of photos taken of the incident, as there was no CCTV and took into account statements given to the media by the Grimsby fan in question.
"The stewards' report states they asked the fan to deflate or hand over the football because an inflatable could interfere with play if it got onto the pitch during the game and the fan refused.
"The stewards say the fan then became abusive, so they made the decision to remove the fan from the ground.
"The fan admits he refused to hand over the football but denies he became abusive.
"There was no third-party evidence corroborating either side regarding this provocation.
"Regardless of the circumstances, the photos clearly show a 'headlock' was used on the fan.
"Although stewards say they attempted to use a 'chestlock' that went wrong because the fan struggled to avoid removal from the ground.
"Given the lack of conclusive evidence available, conflicting claims and lack of third party corroboration, we cannot conclude that there was intentional serious wrongdoing from either the stewards or the fan. The investigation's findings are therefore inconclusive.
"Despite the incident, before leaving the stadium the fan and the stewards shook hands."
A Grimsby Town spokesman said: "Incidents at football grounds of this nature, whilst not common could happen anywhere despite the level of the training that stewards receive.
"It is impossible for any club to legislate for how stewards interact and deal with supporter issues, you can only hope that you have equipped them with the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively whilst also putting the customer at the heart of everything that they do.
"From talking to our supporters, one thing is very clear and that is that GTFC supporters have always found Forest Green to be a warm and friendly stadium to visit."
The Forest Green spokesman added: "The incident was regrettable and not the experience that Forest Green wants fans to have, given The New Lawn's long term reputation as a friendly and welcoming venue for visiting fans.
"As a result, Forest Green are reviewing stewarding procedures in order to learn from the incident and make sure our stewarding is the best it can be."
GTFC stadium manager, Nick Dale said the club does not object to fans taking inflatables to the ground for pre-match and half-time celebrations.
He urged fans to use common sense.
