A  Gloucester teenager stand trial later this year over allegations he stabbed a man with a knife - leaving him with injuries to his head.

Gloucester Crown Court heard the 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was intending to plead not guilty to wounding Casey Everett, 22, with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm at a party in Cheltenham last year.

The court heard Mr Everett was left with slices to his head and injuries to his arms following the alleged attack.

Defending Joe Maloney told the court, the boy said he had been badly beaten up at the party and woke up the next day with no clear recollection of what had happened.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC asked for the boy to be seen by the mental health team for psychiatric reports before matters progressed.

He will appear back before the same court on a date to be fixed to formally enter pleas.
