2. Enjoy the Festival of Birds at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre
Events include shopping, wildlife talks, book signings, a bird spotting race, swan sketching, dog decoy demonstrations, Wild Bird Feeds – and of course birdwatching with the help of guides in the hides.

3. Wave goodbye to dry January with drinks and dancing at Hillside Brewery
The Forest of Dean brewery is inviting people over to Hollybush Farm, Longhope on Sunday February 1 for music, food and drink.
The Forest Bakehouse and Cameron's Quality Butchers will provide the food and there will be Hillside beers for sale, as well as cider, wine and soft drinks.
Go down between noon and 5pm and hear acoustic, soul and reggae tunes too.

4. Turn your children into detectives for the day
Take them along to Gloucester Museum Detectives Club on Saturday to the Folk Museum on Westgate Street.
For children aged five-seven years it's from 10.30am – 12pm, and for eight-11-year-olds it's from 1pm – 2.30pm.
They'll take place in activities, crafts, stories and trails and see and handle items from the museum's collections. Tickets £5 per child.
5. Watch Despicable Me on ITV2
If you haven't seen the 2010 animated film - or even if you have - pop on ITV2 on Sunday afternoon at 5.05pm.

10.Make this warming brunch recipe - and serve for breakfast, lunch or dinner
Baked eggs with ham and spinach - serves 2
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 small green chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
- 400g can chopped tomatoes
- 100g ready-roasted peppers from a jar, drained and sliced
- 180g pack ham, torn, or shredded ham hock
- 50g baby spinach
- 2 medium eggs
- pinch cayenne pepper
- crusty bread, to serve
- Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Heat the oil in a small ovenproof sauté pan. Add the onion and cook for 6 mins until softened. Stir in the garlic and chilli, and cook for a couple mins more. Add the tomatoes and 100ml water. Season well and stir through the peppers and ham. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 mins until the sauce has started to thicken. Add the spinach, stirring through to wilt.
- Make 2 hollows in the sauce and crack your eggs into them. Add a pinch of cayenne, transfer to the oven and bake for 10 mins until the whites of the eggs have set. Serve straight away with crusty bread.
