Fewer children may be taken on by a Dymock primary school in an effort to maintain teaching standards.
Ann Cam Church of England Primary School is looking to reduce the maximum number of children admitted to its reception class from 20 to 15.
The school's governors have called a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the proposed changes, which would take effect in September 2016.
Only 15 new children started at Ann Cam this term, and the heads of the school have now decided to try and keep admission rates at this level.
Head teacher of the school, Chris Ward, said the proposed reduction in admission rates were an effort to maintain current class sizes and uphold teaching standards.
The school currently has four classes with no more than 30 pupils in each, and just four full time teachers.
Mr Ward said: "The changes will mean that the classes won't get too big. If we have 20 children starting each year we could be left with class sizes of 40 children.
"It just means that we want our class sizes to be at their current level at keep them to a maximum of 30 children.
"If class sizes went above 30 it would make life harder for our teachers. Keeping the intake at this level would make life easier throughout the school."
The proposals will be discussed at a meeting on January 28 in Anne Cam's school hall at 6pm.
Ann Cam Primary's governors will hold a full consultation on their proposals for September 2016 until March 1 this year.
They are inviting anyone who would like to comment on the new admission number to contact the school or write to The Governing Body, c/o, Ann Cam CE Primary School, Bayfield Gardens, Dymock, GL18 2BH.
Further details can be found on the school's website anncam.gloucs.sch.uk.
The school received a good rating by Ofsted after their latest inspection in January 2013.
The education watchdog said the quality of Ann Cam's teaching was invariably good.
