Astronomer Sir Patrick Moore dies aged 89

SIR Patrick Moore, who died today aged 89, has been hailed an inspiration to generations of astronomers.
The broadcaster and author passed away peacefully at his home in West Sussex at around 12.30pm.
Peter Cadogan, from Cheltenham, said Sir Patrick had inspired him and many generations to take up astronomy.
The 64-year-old, who is the coordinator of the Cotswold Astronomical Society, said: "He meant a huge amount to a lot of people.
"So many astronomers took up astronomy because of Sir Patrick Moore."
Sir Patrick had presented the BBC programme The Sky At Night for over 50 years, making him the longest-running host of the same television show ever.
