BOURNEMOUTH 18 LYDNEY 24 LYDNEY secured back-to-back National Two South successes and secured their first away win of the season following victory on the south coast. After edging out South West rivals Dings Crusaders last week, which ended a ten-game losing run, the Severnsiders followed that up on the road. The game was marred by mass confusion halfway the second half when two players were sin-binned for the home side and one for the visitors with their return and substitutions causing chaos. The hosts were first on the board after two minutes thanks to a successful penalty from full-back Dan Pollard but Lydney fly-half Danny Trigg matched him four minutes later. The Forest of Dean outfit's pack then won a penalty try when the five-metre scrum could not be contained on 23 minutes with Trigg's easy conversion making it 10-3. Pollard then missed a second shot at goal five minutes later before the full-back dotted down in the corner on the half-hour mark but his conversion did not have the legs. Trigg's accurate penalty then pushed his side five points clear just before the break to lead 13-8 at half-time before adding another three points five minutes into the second period. After 13 successful kicks in a row for his new club, Trigg then put a shot wide on 51 minutes before Pollard was short with a go of his own two minutes later. Bournemouth replacement Dan Cawley then dived over for his side's second try just before the hour with Pollard unable to add to it to leave them trailing 16-13. Trigg kept the scoreboard ticking over with another penalty on the hour after Lydney prop Andy Jarrett and opposite number Luca Firetto and Bournemouth lock Ian Collier were sin-binned for fighting. Bournemouth then lost a third player to the bin when Cawley was sent to the sidelines five minutes later. As a result Lydney number eight Matt Taylor scored from the back of the scrum with Trigg off target to stretch out to 24-13. With minutes remaining Bournemouth secured a losing bonus point when hooker and captain Alan Manning barged over and Pollard was off target but the day belonged to Lydney.
