A popular Church in Stroud has responded to an appeal from Home-Start in the Stroud District to give generously to families in need this Christmas.  Holy Trinity Church, Stroud has organised a service on Sunday 9th December at 10.30am for the congregation to have the opportunity to donate money for local families supported by Home-Start volunteers.  Representatives from Home-Start will talk about how local volunteers with parenting experience support vulnerable families."Many parents supported by Home-Start have said that they are worried about how they will provide for their families this Christmas.  Obtaining credit is too readily available these days and many families are then overburdened by increasing debt which they cannot repay", said Alex Corgier, Senior Coordinator.Support is given for many reasons, including isolation, multiple births, lone parenting, illness or disability and financial difficulties.  We currently have around 70 trained volunteers who visit families in their homes on a weekly basis to offer friendship and support.  Over 70 families are supported each year to prevent crisis and breakdown.  This local charity relies on the generosity of trust funds to supply a valuable service to families.  Individual and business donations are welcome.  Contact Home-Start on 01453 759911 or email enquirieshomestartsd@gmail.com or see our website: www.homestartsd.org for further information.  Home-Start in the Stroud District is now on Facebook and Twitter @homestartsd.
