Harrowing 999 call as violent man attacks Gloucester woman

Police have released the recording of a harrowing 999 call as a victim of domestic violence is attacked in her own home. The audio file was released to appeal to anyone who may be suffering domestic violence to speak out and report it to police. In the tape Michelle Jones is heard calling for help as her ex-partner, 28-year-old Anachi Thomas, smashes his way into her home. She is heard asking the 999 operator to send assistance quickly as her violent ex can be heard banging at the door. Thomas was jailed for 20 months after he admitted burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Ms Jones. He also admitted a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. Detective Inspector Kevin McCloskey, Domestic Abuse and Vulnerable Adults Team, said: "Michelle showed remarkable bravery to come forward and allow this call to be played in court and released to the media. "The recording is shocking and highlights the terrifying experiences many men and women who are victims of domestic abuse have to go through. "That's why we have specially trained officers here in Gloucestershire to tackle domestic abuse and help victims.
