Record numbers of youngsters have visited the countryside thanks to Gloucestershire-based education charity the Ernest Cook Trust.
It has doubled its number of school visits in three years – in the past year, 20,000 pairs of wellies have tramped across its country estates nationally.
And despite the recent extreme weather, schools defied the downpours with only a few visits to ECT's estates being cancelled.
The Ernest Cook Trust, based in Fairford, helps children to learn from the land with its successful education programmes, which it offers free to schools.
It owns and manages over 22,000 acres of country estates.
