How safe do you feel in Eastgate Street at night?
Safer Gloucester's new Nightsafe group will be talking to revellers this Friday evening in Eastgate Street to ask their views of the nightlife in Gloucester and how they could improve their safety.
Officers from Gloucester City Council, Police, 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and city councillors will be setting up a gazebo on the corner of Eastgate Street and Nettleton Road on Friday and from 10pm until midnight officers will be asking people how safe they feel and what could be done to improve safety.
They will also be looking at people's transport home, licensed premises and the pedestrianisation of Eastgate Street.
Councillor Jennie Dallimore, chairman of Safer Gloucester, said: "This is a great opportunity to get feedback from the people who use our night time venues – it is their opinion that counts.
"We have already had some great ideas from the multi agency Nightsafe Group but we want to talk to the people who come into the city centre regularly to ask their views. "
Chief Insp Richard Burge said: "Crime and incidents of disorder have increased in Eastgate Street over the last few years and we want to ensure that anyone coming into the city on a Friday or Saturday night has a great time and stays safe."
