HOUSEBUYER Ben Reade's hopes of moving in to his new home were dashed by flooding.
Contracts were due to be exchanged on the property between the A38 and Castle Lane, Moreton Valence but the matter is now in the hands of solicitors.
"We were supposed to be moving in today," said Ben, 24, from Upton St Leonards, yesterday.
He was due to move in with his girlfriend Linzi Weare, 23.
"It's all up in the air now," he said. "It's a mess."
He added the matter is now in the hands of solicitors.
It is believed water on the road was unable to flow in to a drain because it was blocked.
Moreton Valence was badly hit by surface water as the rain fell on Wednesday.
The A38 had to be closed when floodwater rose so high that it was unsafe for motorists to wade through it.
