UKIP leader Nigel Farage was the clear winner in last night's televised debate with Nick Clegg on Britain's membership of the EU, a poll has shown. In the debate, which contained accusations of lies from both sides, Mr Farage won by a clear majority of 68% according to a poll by Yougov, a big increase in the lead he built last week - Mr Clegg gained just 27%. The UKIP leader scored points as he attacked big business and warned that there will be violence on the streets of Europe if the EU is not dismantled. He said his aim was to protect the white working class of Britain and lashed out at wealthy landowners. He said of immigration : "It's good for the rich, because it's cheaper nannies and cheaper chauffeurs and cheaper gardeners, but it's bad news for ordinary Britons." Throughout the hour-long debate Mr Clegg tried to portray his opponent as a man who has shunned the modern world. He described Farage's politics as a "sort of Billy No Mates Britain" saying "it will be worse than that, it will be Billy No Jobs Britain, a Billy No Influence Britain".
