Obscene graffiti sprayed onto the historic Greyfriars ruin in Gloucester has resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old Matson man.
The graffiti made insults at the police and included a smiley face.
The arrest - on suspicion of destroying or damaging a protected ancient monument - came on Tuesday.
The man was bailed until December 6 when he will learn if he faces charges in relation to the incident.
The ancient monastery ruins, which date back to 1231, were defaced on June 13 and has since been cleaned.
