AN outdoor facility will be officially secured for the community in a much-awaited handover.
South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre will be taken over from Gloucestershire County Council by Prospects on November 16 following the completion of the sale.
The mutual company has taken on a 125-lease of the site, near Cirencester, and centre staff have joined it.
The county council sparked a furore from the community and a host of young people who use the amenity when it put it on the open market to cut costs. But the new firm has pledged to invest an extra £500,000 to create better facilities, to benefit young people in Gloucestershire and also broaden the centre's appeal to a wider range of customers.
