IN-FORM Gloucester duo Freddie Burns and Billy Twelvetrees joined up with the England squad last night.
Boss Stuart Lancaster called the Cherry and Whites pair into his set-up ahead of Saturday's first autumn international against Fiji at Twickenham (kick-off 2pm).
Livewire fly-half Burns has been drawn into the squad as injury cover for Harlequins centre Jordan Turner-Hall, who has returned to his club to have continued treatment on an inflamed knee.
The 22-year-old landed a flawless seven from seven shots at goal in Saturday's 28-25 Harlequins defeat at The Stoop.
His all-round play has elevated him to the cusp of the England squad, and Lancaster has had him on his list of standby options.
Former Leicester centre Twelvetrees has settled quickly into Kingsholm life, notably proving a muscular breakdown competitor – and his siege-gun boot has certainly aided in clearance situations and tactical kicking.
Lancaster has called up the 23-year-old midfielder as precautionary cover for London Irish centre Jonathan Joseph, who remains a worry with an ankle injury.
If either Gloucester man stays the course of the week with England, they would then be in line for a full international debut.
Their call-ups are further evidence of Gloucester's strong start to the new campaign under new rugby director Nigel Davies.
