EVENTS for this coming weekend will include an RNLI coffee morning at Oakridge Lynch Village Hall running from 10am to 12.30pm on Saturday.

RNLI souvenirs will be on sale and admission is £2 to include refreshments.

Please support them if you can.

A jumble and nearly new sale will be held at the Maypole Hall, Paganhill from 2pm to 4pm with entry fee of 20p. Tea/coffee and cakes will be available and funds will be donated to Stroud District Green Party.

In the evening, The Cappella Singers will return to St. Mary Magdalene at Rodborough for a concert including music by Williams, Howells, Parry and more. The concert starts at 7.30pm with admission charges of £9. Under 16's free. Tickets are available from Seren Fairtrade and Fabulous, High Street, Stroud or 01452 501752.

An alternative is Stroud Ceilidhs and Geckoes at Stroud Subscription Rooms for their opening session with ticket prices at £10/£9.50 concessions/£5 accompanied children. This is a standing event that starts at 8pm and more details from 01453 760900/www.subscription rooms.org.uk.

Services on Sunday include Café Worship from 9am onwards at Holy Trinity, Stroud with breakfast, music and worship.

There will also be Harvest Festival with 11am 'Saints Alive' at All Saints', Uplands, 11am Sung Eucharist at Holy Trinity, Slad and 11.30am All-Age Celebration Eucharist at St. Laurence Church, Stroud.

Stroud Shambles WI have a meeting scheduled for October 10 from 10am to noon with Line dancing – Jollystompers. The group meets in the Old Town Hall with visitors welcome and more details from June on 01453 751686.

Stroud Gardening Club met recently and had an enjoyable evening.

If you missed this one, they next meet on Wednesday, October 17 for their special open evening at the Subscription Rooms.

An Evening with Christine Walkden, horticulturist and broadcaster and writer is bound to be lively and entertaining and starts at 7.30pm.

Proceeds from the evening, after expenses, are to be shared between the club and League of Friends of Stroud Hospital.
