LIKE kids in a sweet shop, fashion conscious ladies flocked to the opening of new handbag outlet Ollie & Nic at Gloucester Quays this weekend.
Founded in 2002, the handbag company has chosen the city as the location for its sixth store.
It has taken over the former Sunglasses Hut unit and is fitting it out with quirky displays and vintage-themed decorations.
It has already recruited a full team of staff and opened its doors today (Saturday).
It is not the only change taking place at the Quays though as work on a new walkway through the shopping centre is now progressing.
When asked why they chose Gloucester a company spokeswoman said: "We wanted to be part of the new development scheme at Gloucester Quays and thought that Gloucester would be a perfect fit alongside our current portfolio of stores."
Ollie & Nic sells handbags, purses, jewellery, scarves, belts, umbrellas and sunglasses.
It's other shops are in Brighton, Cardiff, Chester, Glasgow and London.
Jess Reynolds and mum Daniela opened Pretty Little Things in Westgate Street three months ago selling accessories and homewares.
Jess said: "We are always happy to see shops coming to Gloucester and it can only mean things are on the up and hopefully it will bring a bit more trade into Gloucester."
She said they had already built up a loyal customer base and so had no worries about the new shop taking away businesses from them.
Ollie & Nic will be running a launch competition in its first week of trading giving customers the chance to win a selection
of goodies.
